Melanie Aleman, Sustainable Development Specialist at Cardno Latin America, and Pablo Salvador, biologist at Cardno Latin America, travelled to Brisbane, Australia this April to participate in the 39th Annual Conference of the International Association for Impact Assessment. This year’s conference theme was “Evolution or Revolution: Where Next for Impact Assessment?” and it brought together more than 1000 participants from over 80 countries, sharing and debating the trends of impact assessment and other related topics.

Melanie Aleman sharing experiences with the Cardno team

Melanie represented Cardno as a speaker in the forum titled “Operating in Emerging Countries with High Biological and Cultural Diversity.” The forum, sponsored by ExxonMobil PNG, focused on the importance of projects that serve as catalysts for the development of new methodologies that promote biodiversity conservation. The presentation recounted some of Cardno Latin America’s experiences in Ecuador, one of the most biodiverse countries in the world.

The team also had the opportunity to participate in different workshops

Apart from presenting and participating in the conference, Melanie and Pablo visited the Cardno global headquarters in Brisbane and presented Cardno Latin America’s work to our Australian peers. This experience was invaluable to share knowledge and work done through Cardno Latin America and further our relationships between country office locations.
